Now, I can proudly say I'm an ACTOR

From a Nursing major TO a college dropout TO an ACTOR

Long time

It’s been a very long time since I’ve written a post. A year actually. Well since that time I’ve moved to West Hollywood with a couple of awesome guys. Scarred my liver but quit smoking. Seldom go to church (BOOOOO). Dumped a manager and agent but gained better ones. And have an amazing girlfriend.

It’s hard to think up what all has come to pass in a year. I haven’t really acted in anything since Dead Inside. Been on a ton of great auditions though (General Hospital, Up All Night, Awkward.) but haven’t booked one.

The direction has changed. With the help of Pearry and my manager, we’ve decided it would be beneficial for all of us if I chose to go into Action/Martial Arts genre of moviemaking. So far things seem to looking good for 2013 with this in mind. Been getting back into the training. Flexibility has definitely been the hardest part. We’ve (Sammy M.) choreographed and shot a fight reel to really showcase our abilities and hopefully a film comes out of that. One of the hardest things I’ve had to do acting wise. Stuntmen, I applaud you. Stunts are ridiculously hard.

Anyways I could write for hours but I’m too tired. Night

PS- Flying to NYC on thursday. My big brotha is graduating from COLUMBA UNIVERSITY!! WHAT WHAT IVY LEAGUER IN THE FAM!!

End of week 3

As I’m making this post, we are filming the last couple of shots for week 3. It’s been an exciting adventure but I’m dreading next week. It’s getting closer and closer to wrap.. Gonna miss being around this awesome group of ppl all the time.

Gotta cherish these last few days I film :/

On another note, I think a couple of other projects are being lined up for me from ppl that I’ve met here. Let’s hope it all works out :)

Cheers!!

Day 1….NOT

So production has started and we are filming. I don’t start till wednesday so pretty much just chillin at the moment. well actually im rehearsing for some scenes and it’s pretty exciting. honestly, i have the best cast and crew…they are truly inspiring and make me want to work harder than ever to achieve my goals. like my last post, i will reiterate that this film is definitely something special. As we continue shooting, i’ll post a lot of info about the shoot and hopefully upload some behind the scene footage through my youtube page (www.youtube.com/jlim920) keep up with it.

Working on a feature

We haven’t even shot a single scene but I’m already thinking this is gonna be something special. I’ve never done a character study so in depth up to this point so I’ve learned so much. Had a character breakdown session with our director today and uncovered a lot of great material that you will find in the film. Hopefully you guys will enjoy the performance. Poster shoot/movie trailer will be shot in the coming weeks and I’ll update you guys on when it’ll be out online.

Guess what? Cannes Film Festival (prolly the most famous and biggest film festivals in the world for you guys who don’t know much about the industry) will be premiering our trailer at the 64th festival running from 11-22 of May. Isn’t that awesome?!

Catch you guys later!

One 2011 goal out of the way

Just booked my first feature film that I’ll be starring in! This is an exciting time and super stoked to be working with Jennifer Chang and Pearry Teo again. God is amazing!!!

Andrew Park is AWESOME!

SAG Eligible and 2011

Ah it has been exactly a YEAR since I moved to L.A. to do this acting thing. It’s been liberating, rewarding, scary, worrisome, and financially draining. I’ve moved twice, had to start paying student loans back (over $30,000) and switched jobs from a froyo employee to a server at a jap rest. but it was allll worth it in 2010 because I’ve worked on dozens of projects and met some awesome ppl along the way. Having a solid church group at Young Nak helps a lot as well. God has really blessed me a lot even though I’ve fallen countless times. He’s always there which I’m totally delighted about.

So yea! I’m SAG-eligible. this is like one of the biggest steps in an actor’s career. Joining the Screen Actors Guild. It can give you a better shot at walking through the casting director’s door/Makes sure you get PAID/pretty much you’re a legitimate, professional actor.

2011 hopes and dreams:

Get multiple costar/guest star or even a recurring spot in a network show.

Meet some more awesome ppl

Be in a film that goes on the festival circuit.

Get closer with church homies and G-O-D

Travel more!

It’s all about the adventure

Ahhh Hollywood, how you throw curveballs. Such a stressful time in the industry this past 2 months. Literally haven’t been sent out to a single audition by the agent in a month..hope I wasn’t forgotten. Acting school has been eye opening. Met lots of fun and talented ppl there. I’m still wishing and praying everyday for a breakthrough but I have to keep reminding myself that the process is what it’s all about. If I were to just get thrown into the big mix of things..pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to appreciate the success as much.

Anyways came home for the weekend and had a blast with the fam. Love how they keep me grounded and make me want it (career in HW) moreeee

Hope all is well with everyone and sorry it took me so long to post. Pretty sure no one keeps up with me anywhooo hahaha

Dreams are slowly (quickly) coming true

So you may be wondering why I say “quickly”. Well the reason for that is because…i’ve only started this crazy adventure 8 months ago!!! After looking back I realize I’ve come so far in such a short period of time. But as humans, we always wish for more and more quickly. It’s crazy to think that last December I was going to university to become a nurse. Now i can say that I am an Actor!

These past couple of months have been great! God has been so kind to have allowed me to meet some great people and given me great opportunities. Through my manager I’ve finally got an agent who will be representing me across the board (film/tv/commercials) it’s great and I hope I can pull my end of the bargain since he is taking time to advocate for my success.

Another bit of news is that I will be flying home this weekend. Super excited and if you have the time, hit me up so we can play.

Till next time CHEERS
